Our story

High Society Hemp Co.

How it all started

At High Society Hemp Co., our journey began in Texas, a state where cannabis remains illegal. As someone who has always believed in natural remedies, I’ve been a supporter of the cannabis industry for its potential to heal. But in 2020, this belief became personal when my husband, just six months after we got engaged, was diagnosed with cancer. Since then, he has undergone continuous chemotherapy and endured major surgeries, including the removal of ribs, leading to immense pain. Watching him suffer daily, relying on narcotics and opioids to get through the day, was heartbreaking. When you’re faced with a life-threatening illness, all you want is to live fully, not be sedated.

In January 2023, the hospital informed us that there was nothing more they could do—chemotherapy had stopped working. They gave him three to six months to live. But we found hope in a clinical trial at St. Jude in Memphis, Tennessee, where he met the criteria to participate. Now, he’s in his ninth month since that prognosis, and every day we have together is a gift.

About the founder

High Society Hemp Co. was born out of my desire to give my husband his dignity back—to help him feel better, eat well, and function without the debilitating side effects of traditional medications. Living in Texas meant we had to travel to New Mexico and Oklahoma to access cannabis products. We would share our story with dispensaries, hoping for help. But the costs and time involved became too much. That’s when I turned to hemp as a legal alternative.

I began researching and visiting local smoke shops, but I found the products inconsistent and uncurated. So, I decided to take matters into my own hands. I became a licensed manufacturer of hemp consumables and started making products specifically for my husband. From there, my mission expanded: How could I help others in similar situations who had no access to this kind of natural relief?

That’s why I founded High Society Hemp Co.—to provide quality, curated hemp products to those in need. Whether you’re seeking relief from illness or simply enjoy the benefits of the cannabis plant, our goal is to offer something that helps restore a piece of your life and dignity. In Texas, the Compassionate Care Program only recently added cancer to its list of treatable conditions, but the cost is astronomical, and the options are limited. It’s clear that change is needed, and we’re here to be part of that change.

"Necessity taught my hands to build, and compassion gave my work its soul."
